Cave Creek Community Garden

The Community Garden for Cave Creek is an innovative restoration project supported by the Mayor, members of the Community and Audubon Arizona. The development program was determined by the needs of the site, the community, and the parameters set by the new administration. The site is an old surface mine predominately located within the 100 and 200 year flood plain for Cave Creek Wash. The goal is to establish the community gardens, restore the natural habitiat and offer an education facility featuring the natural environment and the production of local food crops. Jennie is working closely with all stake holders to develop a plan that fits the needs of the population as well as the site. The opportunities for the site are unique in that we have the land and water to make the project sustainable. The town owns the site and waste water treatment plant that will provide effluent water to irrigate the garden and the surrounding reconstructed habitat. This project has the potential to be a model for other water treatment plants.
